Our Mares
Our mare band consists mainly of Hungarian mares. We also have several mares of Thoroughbred and other European Warmblood breeding. Our goal is to raise a few select foals each year. We generally offer some for sale as weanlings and then some later as 3 year olds started under saddle. We also select a few fillies to place in our broodmare group. Occasionally, we will sell or lease our mares. If you see one that catches your fancy, contact us. We may make her available to you on a lease or sale basis or reserve her in-utero foal for you.

H Lilli

Lilli is an athletic and talented 2003 Hungarian Warmblood mare. She is a bright bay with a little white “L” on her forehead... thus inspiration for her name - Lilli.

Lilli's’s dam was one of our top producing Hungarian Mares – H Liberty Foka. The Foka mare line is the producer of Hilda Gurney’s Hungarian dressage star - Pasha. Her sire- Dunant was an imported Irish Thoroughbred who retired from a spectacular racing career which included numerous wire to wire wins in two continents and setting a track record for 1 1/16 miles at at Bay Meadows.

Lilli has a strong dressage foundation, hops over fences and likes trail rides. With three rhythmic gaits and a love for work she bonds completely with her rider and loves the partnership of a one on one relationship. At her first and only show, Lilli was the high point dressage horse.

Unfortunately her promising career ended way too soon. After surviving a tragic and disfiguring accident in which a tree fell on her face during a violent windstorm, we decided to retire her to our brood mare band. We look forward to some lovely foals and quiet trail rides as Lilli moves into her new phase of life.

Jade

Jade is a 2004, 16 hand, bay mare with tons of elegance and presence. She is registered as a Hungarian Felver and Part Shagya Arabian. Jade has had multiple wins in dressage as a young horse and mature mare. She is very kind and willing to please as evidenced by how easy she was to start under saddle as a three year old. Jade has gorgeous dressage movement and a long list of relatives doing quite well in dressage, including maternal half brother Rusti, owned and shown throughout Region VI at Grand Prix by Andrea Lucianna.

Jade was bred by Valerie Sivertson of Ohop Valley Hungarian Horse Farm and purchased by Chris Bredeson of Liberty Farms when she was only one day old. With her bloodlines and type, the goal since “day 1” has always been to breed her to our beautiful black stallion, H.S. So Rare. We think this will be an ideal mating. Kindle

Carloynn Bunch

Kindle is a 2005 Oldenburg filly. Her name means animated, lluminated and to arouse and excite. She is all of that and more. In her only show outing as a weanling, Hilda Gurney commented: "Beautiful head, nicely developed topline, nice overstep, nice spring and ground cover and a beautiful, elegant filly''.

Kindle was sired by Kostolany, a phenomenal German Stallion who was the champion at the Trakehner stallion selection at Neumünster 1987. He combines his great talent for jumping and dressage with a wonderful temperament and character. Kostolany has sired eight approved stallions such as champion sire - Gribaldi, premium sire- Tolstoi and premium stallion - Silvermoon. Kostolany is also well known for his daughters who are always successful at broodmares shows, performance tests for mares, and national championships.

Our Oldenburg Verband mare -Sumptuous is Kindle’s dam.

With her stellar pedigree and conformation plus her incredible suspension and elevation, Kindle is destined to become an international dressage star and future broodmare.

Kostolany has sired eight approved stallions such as champion sire - Gribaldi, premium sire- Tolstoi and premium stallion – Silvermoon.” Silvermoon is the sire of the absolutely incredible Danish Dressage mare: Blue Hors Matinee!

2008 update:
Confirming our hopes and dreams, Kindle was crowned Division Champion 3 year old and under Dressage filly after handily winning her 3 year Dressage Sport Horse Class at the Northwest Sport Horse Breeders Classic Show during Show #1. She repeated that feat at Championships’ Show #2 and again won her 3 years old class besting some extremely serious competition . In her first outing since her weanling debut, she was complimented by Judge Hilda Gurney as “an elegant, well muscled filly with an elastic walk and a springy trot with nice reach”. Kindle also won her Oldenburg Verband breed class at both shows.

Finishing out 2008 and because of her remarkable in-hand winnings, Kindle was honored to become the Champion 3 year old Dressage Filly of the Northwest Sport Horse Breeder’s Association. Way to go Kindle!

1997 Black Thoroughbred Cross mare

Jet Black Brood Mare Extraordinaire

Spice is a true black Thoroughbred Cross 1997 mare. She is a very flashy 16.3 hand warmblood type mare with 4 white socks and blaze. Spice has terrific flat knee movement and consistently passes that on to her foals. She has produced four beautiful foals for us. All are extremely easy to handle, very trainable, have near perfect conformation and are incredibly talented. All four will finish at 16.2 hands plus. She has produced a Pinto filly, a black colt with 4 whites, a fabulous chestnut colt, and another coal black colt.

H Liberty Foka 1999-2009

Liberty Foka was a registered Hungarian Felver mare bred by the Cooksley Ranch in the sandhills of Nebraska. She had very special bloodlines that are nearly impossible to come by now as her sire, Laszlo, only had a few foal crops before his premature passing. Foka was closely related to the Hungarian mare H. Pasha, owned and ridden to the upper levels of dressage by Hilda Gurney, Olympic Team Member. Foka gave Liberty Farms some very nice foals for which we are very grateful.
